There is perhaps no wedding venue in Vancouver more distinctive than Hycroft Manor. Wedding photos there just scream “classy”, because, you know, those Greek columns! But being a preferred vendor at Hycroft Manor, we also know there is more to this amazing venue than just the drawing room, French garden, or even those columns. There is a distinctive signature photo we wanted to take, the perfect aerial shot of a bride walking down the aisle to the terrace ceremony, taken from our drone during a real wedding!
With Tiffany and Misha’s Hycroft Manor wedding, we finally had the perfect opportunity. First, we had built a great rapport with them from a fun pre-wedding engagement photo shoot at Lighthouse Park – you’ll see some of those photos below. Second, there will be no wedding videographer on the day, an important consideration because drones are not silent, and the noise would be a problem for clean audio during filming. Being a studio that also does wedding videography in Vancouver, we understand both photography and videography needs and how to have the two work together. Lastly, we got permission from both the couple and the commissioner on wedding day, and flew the drone at a respectable distance from everyone.
In the end, nobody even noticed the drone after it got airborne, and we managed to take one of the best Hycroft wedding photos, a true signature shot for Tiffany and Misha, while being a true fly on the wall, so to speak. We even got those awesome columns in the same shot!
