VanWeddings began its existence as a Vancouver wedding videographer in 2011. Before that time, wedding videos used to be captured by clunky camcorders. They were recorded more as a utility product, without much artistic flair. Wedding videos were boring and very few couples watched their video more than once. A lot of weddings happened with just a wedding photographer, and who could blame the bride for making that decision?
The same was about to happen with a friend of ours, she was going to get married and had no plans for a wedding video. Thankfully, just the year before, Canon had added a video mode to their DSLR camera. Originally intended as a quick way for photojournalists to take a quick video, it soon revolutionized film making. The large sensor size of the DSLR camera allowed for a very cinematic look to videography, and by 2011 this new breed of wedding films was all the rage! It was at this time we took our video DSLR to our friend’s small wedding and made a highlight wedding video for her as a gift.
