“Due to some upcoming strong winds, we’ll have to get off the mountain by 6:30pm.” With these words right before the ceremony, the crowd was surprised but still cheerful. We on the other hand, exchanged concerned looks with each other. This Sea to Sky wedding video was supposed to be a Same Day Edit (SDE), and an already tight timeline just got a lot tighter!

Same Day Edit is the black magic of wedding videography. Every editor remembers their first SDE, it was a gut wrenching, high pressure experience, a race against time and expectations. With more experience, it gets more and more manageable, to the point we know we can always finish it, now it’s about how good we can make it in the few hours we have.

What we have on our side is Chanelle and Donavon, one of our coolest wedding couples ever. I mean, to plan an outdoor winter wedding on top of a snowy mountain, these are two adventurers! We already knew Donavon was game when we shot his sister’s wedding last year, but Chanelle blew us away in her stunning dress and willingness to tough it out in freezing temperatures. Seriously, wasn’t that the most picturesque first look in the snow?

In the end, the winds forced the ceremony inside, but C&D’s vows warmed everybody’s heart, and instead of 6.5 hours to edit, we had 5 hours. It was pure magic to pull this one out of the hat, and we could not have done it for a better couple!
