Becoming the Boyals
After the Next Day Edit played, the DJ told us that when he saw us still editing at the reception, he thought we were late in finishing. It took a second to realize what he meant – it is normal, at least in Vancouver Indian weddings, for the videographer to come to the reception with a finished NDE. For VanWeddings though, it’s about exceeding expectations, and with 7 years of Same Day Edit experience, it just wouldn’t feel right to take it easy. The most magical part of an SDE is seeing something that happened just minutes ago, so we treat Next and Same Day Edits the same, and use the terms interchangeably. It is always worth it to see the bride light up when she sees first dance right then and there!
And there is no better couple to make happy than Harleen and Dave, 10 years in the making, owners of the best smiles we’ve seen. As with all Punjabi weddings, there is an abundance of the grand and epic, but what we love the most are H&D’s intimate moments. As Dave said, after the wedding he just wanted to take Harleen on a quiet walk. If the big things make us happy, the small things should too.
